The Tata Chemicals Society for Rural Development (TCSRD) was established by Tata Chemicals Limited (TCL) in 1980 to fulfil the social responsibilities of TCL to communities neighboring the company’s manufacturing plant in Mithapur (Gujarat). It later extended its operations to Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and other locations to reach out to marginalised sections of the society.

Mrs. Nayanaben Tulasibhai Makvana comes from a very poor family, but she has always been very enthusiastic about helping her family. She joined the Ridhisidhi mandal with TCSRD, and today she is an entrepreneur, an Okhai artisan, as well as mukhiya of the mandal.

Before Mr. Rameshbhai joined the Affirmative Action programme, he was working as a labourer. However, what he was earning was insufficient to support his family, which includes his wife and four children. He completed Rural Entrepreneurship Development Programme (REDP) training successfully within 45 days by following all the rules and regulation of Dalit Shakti Kendra.
